Course number(s): EASTASN 189K/289K
Offered Winter quarter in the 2011-2012 academic year

Instructors
Joon-woo Park - 2011-2012 Koret Fellow

This course is designed to provide an overview of Korean foreign policy in its relations with key neighbors. With ample on-the-spot experiences in many key issues of Korean foreign policy practices, the instructor intends to share these experiences with students majoring in East Asian studies. The course will share pragmatic and practical issues about South Korean foreign policy, rather than a theoretical approach to foreign policy in East Asia. It will deal with many pending issues of Korea’s relations with Japan and China. It will also review the status of East Asian integration in comparison with the EU and the future prospects for it, the current status of Korea-U.S. relations and Korea’s growing role on the global stage.
